2010 Chevrolet Colorado Review OverviewThe Colorado is a mid-size powerful, dependable and utilitarian pickup truck introduced in 2004. Available in regular cab, extended cab and crew cab body styles, the Colorado enters into 2010 with greater efficiency, thanks to a new XFE model that delivers the lineup's best fuel economy. Also available is a 5.3L V-8 engine on extended cab and crew cab models that enables a towing capacity of 6,000 pounds (2,721 kg). The 5.3L now features variable valve timing for greater overall performance. For 2010, head curtain side air bags are now standard on all models and three new exterior colors are offered. The Colorado retains the brake system enhanced last year and the four-channel ABS with yaw control for flatter, more controlled stopping during panic stops and improved control on slippery surfaces. The performance-bred ZQ8 sport package is also available.Power and performanceMost Colorado trims get a standard 185-hp, 2.9-liter, 4-cylinder engine. 4WD Crew Cabs are equipped with a 242-hp, 3.7-liter, 5-cylinder standard engine which is optional on other Colorado trims. Extended and Crew Cab models have a 300-hp, 5.3-liter, V8 engine available as an option. Four-cylinder models are available with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission; five-cylinder and V8 versions get the automatic transmission only. When the Colorado is fully equipped, its maximum towing capacity is 6000 lb.Body and stylingThe Chevrolet Colorado comes in three trim levels: Regular Cab, Extended Cab and Crew Cab. The Regular Cab features cruise control; color-keyed bumpers; fog lamps; standard bed-liner; 60/40 split-bench front seat; air conditioning; ebony carpeting and vinyl floor mats; color-keyed grille surround and center bar; chrome-trimmed interior accents; deep-tinted rear window; leather-wrapped steering wheel; XM Radio with three trial months; AM/FM stereo with CD/MP3 player; driver and front passenger air bags; StabiliTrak with traction control; OnStar with one-year Safe & Sound Plan; and new 16-inch aluminum wheels.
