2010 Chevrolet Impala Review OverviewPowerful, efficient engine choices, available six-passenger capacity, and good crash test scores make the Chevrolet Impala one of the best full-size sedans available in the market today. The available features include Bluetooth phone connectivity through the OnStar system. New for 2010 is a trio of contemporary exterior colors (Summit White, Cyber Gray Metallic and Aqua Blue Metallic) and revisions to the 1LT trim package. Its value is supported by features such as 3.5L V-6 engine that offers 29 mpg in highway fuel efficiency, as well as a safety package that includes thorax side-impact air bags. The 2010 Chevrolet Impala is available in LS, LT and LTZ trim levels. Chevrolet has dropped the high performance SS model from the Impala lineup for this year.Power and performanceA 215-hp, 3.5-liter, V6 engine powers the LS and LT trims. A 230-hp, 3.9-liter, E85-capable V6 engine is standard on the LTZ trim. All trims come with a four-speed automatic transmission. Both engines are available in flex-fuel versions that can run on ethanol-based E85. The LTZ trim features a sportier suspension. The V6 engine models deliver an EPA estimated 19 mpg in city and 29 mpg on highways. E85 is a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. The E85 ethanol fuel is a cleaner-burning fuel made from renewable, organic resources that help keep the environment clean.Body and stylingThe 2010 Chevrolet Impala is mainly a carryover model from 2009. Impalas compete with the Ford Taurus, Chrysler 300 and Toyota Avalon. Front bucket seats; halogen headlamps; AM/FM stereo with CD and MP3 playback system with six speakers and auxiliary audio input jack, cruise control, LATCH; XM radio; driver information system; dual-zone air conditioning with driver and front passenger temperature controls; and air filtration are some of the standard equipment. The LS and LT models roll on 16-inch wheels while the LTZ features 18-inch wheels. A Bose premium 8-speaker system Bose is standard on the LTZ, but optional on the LT. Leather upholstery and remote engine start are the other available features. The LTZ models come standard with sport suspension, leather upholstery, and heated front seats. 18.6 cubic feet of trunk space is good for carrying large items.Safety FeaturesStandard safety features include airbags: dual-stage, frontal, driver and front passenger, head-curtain side-impact, front and rear outboard seating positions; and Passenger Sensing System; powerful four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and electronic traction control; tire pressure monitoring system, and OnStar facility. |
